Grace Estella (Riherd) Mabie was born August 4, 1917
in Red Rock to William and Maude (Shilling) Riherd. Grace was a cheerleader and
also a member of the National Honor Society at Knoxville High School, graduating
with the class of 1934.

She was united in marriage to William E. Mabie in August
4, 1935 in Missouri. William and Grace lived in Knoxville after they were first
married. Following William’s return from WWII, they moved to Springfield, IL where
they owned the Sangamon Inn in the early 1950s. They later purchased the Coast
to Coast store in Williamsburg which they continued to run for 25 years.

In 1978
William and Grace retired to Sun City, AZ, returning to Knoxville in 1981. She was
an avid golfer, bridge player, and bowler. Grace also belonged to Eastern Star, several
bridge groups in Knoxville, and was also a member of the Presbyterian Church in
Knoxville. She also enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and riding on the back of
Rick’s Harley Davidson.

Grace passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2008, at Griffins
Nursing Home in Knoxville at the age of 90 years, 6 months, and 13 days.

She is preceded
in death by her parents, husband, William “Billie” Mabie; daughter, Marla Kaye Miller;
sisters, Ruby Murphy, and Bernice Buckley; brothers, John, James Kenneth, and Arthur
Riherd. Grace is survived by her son, William “Rick” Mabie, and special friend Renae Gray of Newton, along with nieces, nephews other relatives, and many friends.
