Services for Glenn Lawrence Mitchell, 63, of Knoxville, who died April 8, 1985 at
Knoxville Area Community Hospital, were held April 11 at Bybee and Davis Funeral
Home. Interment was in Graceland Cemetery.
Chaplain Donald C. Everhart officiated
at the services. Music was provided by Debbi Woodruff, organist. Pallbearers were
Barney Darnell, Harry Stevenson, Tom Bailey, Sr., Walt Wing, Danny Marsh, and Frank
Pearson. Honorary bearers were Jay Clark, Wyatt Welch, Clinton Richards, and Corwin
Hatch.
Mr. Mitchell was born on October 10, 1921 in Marion County, the son of William
B. and Sarah Bernice Kersey Mitchell. On Oct. 27, 1940, he married Claudine Moyle.
He was employed by the State of Iowa Highway Commission from 1962 until his retirement
in 1983. He was a World War II veteran, a member of the Oriental Lodge No. 61 A.F.
& A.M. and the O.E.S. Lodge No. 85 of Knoxville. He was preceded in death by his
parents; one brother, Frank; and two sisters, Kathryn Nichols and Wilma Craig.
He
is survived by his wife; one daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Gordon Agan of Knoxville;
and two grandchildren. A memorial has been established to the new Knoxville municipal
swimming pool.
