Funeral services for Gene David Shoemaker, 74, of Waterloo, who died Sunday, Nov. 3,
2002 at his home, were held Wednesday, Nov. 6, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Internment
was at Mt. Oliver Cemetery.

Gene was born on September 18, 1928 in Knoxville, the
son of Elmer Lawrence and Rita E. (Conway) Shoemaker. He married Ruth E. Hollingsworth
on June 14, 1948 in Knoxville. Gene was employed with the government for 33 years,
28 of which were as an IRS officer, retiring in 1980.

He was preceded in death by
three brothers, Bill, Paul and Dale Shoemaker; and a sister, Eva Thornburg.

He is
survived by his wife; three sons and their wives, Dennis and Pauline Shoemaker of
New Berlin, Wis., Gary and Christi Shoemkaer of Waterloo, and Larry and Cindy Shoemaker
of Nashua; four daughters and their husbands, Sandy and David Hocken of Avoca, Susan
and Wendell Eckhoff of Stewartville, Minn, Sharon Shoemaker of Waterloo, and Shelia
and Gene Welter of Gilbertville; 15 grandchildren; one great-greanddaughter; and
two sisters and their husbands, Carol and Ross Fee of Knoxville and Ruth and John
Waddell of Des Moines.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
