Rev. Frederick Leroy Gilson, 76, of Redlands, California died Monday, Nov. 29, 1976, where he resided for 11 years.

Mr. Gilson was born on a farm near Knoxville, Iowa Nov. 3, 1900, the son of Cyrus Gilson and Anna Fredericka Eberhardt.

He was a graduate of Knoxville High School and Des Moines University. In 1925 he graduated from Coigate Rochester Divinity School and was ordained to the ministry.

After his marriage to Hazel M. Minott of Melrose, Massachusetts in 1925, they were appointed missionaries to Assam, India by the Northern Baptist Convention and served there until 1929.

Mr. Gilson then served pastorates in American Baptist Churches in Missoula, Mont., Grand Island, Neb.; Fresno, Calif.; Galesburg, Ill.; and Buffalo, N.Y.

He served on the General Council and various committees of the American Baptist Convention and worked with local, state, and national councils of churches.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel, two children, Mrs. C.M. Ravenscroft of Spencer, Iowa, and Rev. Clifford M. Gilson of Hoosick, N.Y., and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother John Gustave Gilson (1899-1966).

Memorial services are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 18 in the Sanctuary of the First Baptist Church. F. Arthur Cortner Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
