Funeral services for Mrs. Frances Rees, who died, March 29, 1971, at Collins Memorial Hospital following a heart attack, were held March 3 from the First United Methodist Church with Rev. E. Edward Philgreen officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery with Evans Arlington Chapel in charge.

Honorary casket-bearers were John VandenBerg, Roy DuBree. Johnny Beam, Coy Glover, Gale Reed and Pete Stotts. Casket-bearers were Fred Godfrey, Gene Stotts. Clifford Line, Bob Douglas, Harry Hartshorn and C1yde Kirkwood, Mrs. Guy Anderson, organist accompanied Mrs. Gene Bane, soloist.

Frances Pauline, daughter of Paul and Jennie Hemby Rahlf, was born May 29, 1908 in Knoxville and graduated from high school in 1926. She was an operator for the local telephone company for many years. On Aug. 28, 1931 she was united in marriage to Carl Rees at Lancaster, Mo.

She was a 50-year member of the First United Methodist Church; a member of WSCS Martha Circle. Home-builders Sunday School Class, Fire-men’s Auxiliary, Knoxville Women’s Club including t h e Home Life and Garden Division, Marion County Historical Society, Cemetery Aid, and an honorary member of the Daughters of the Union Veterans. She enjoyed writing poetry and two of her poems were published in the Iowa Federated Women’s Club’s Poetry Brochure of 1966-67.

She is survived by her husband, Carl; three daughters. Mrs. Willis (Marjorie) Andrews, Mrs. John (Claudean) Avon, and Mrs. Gary (Nancy) Cooney of Knoxville; four sans, Robert, Paul and Tommy of Knoxville and Richard stationed with the Navy at Coronado Calif.; and ten grandchildren.
