Services for Frances Crockett, 79, of Britt, who died April 18, 1986 at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, were held April 21 at Britt Congregational United Church of Christ. Ewing Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Britt.
Revs. Clyde M. Lee and Levi Winfred officiated at the services.
Music was provided by Ruby Hodson, organist, and Joyce Nelson, soloist.
Pallbearers were Gene Huling, Mahlon Yaggy, Lyle Dallman, Ed Landsberg, Chuck Smith, and Charles McLaughlin. Honorary bearers were Robert, Renee, John, Allison, Andrea, Paul and Lesley Crockett, and Karrie and Penny Wallen.
Mrs. Crockett was born Feb. 26, 1907 in Knoxville, the daughter of Walter and Mary Clark Bane.
She attended Simpson College and taught in the Beach, Maxwell and New Sharon School systems.
On March 24, 1935 in Memphis, Mo., she married Paul Crockett.
They lived in Eddyville, Jackson, Mich., and Minot, N.D. While in Minot, she was recognized ads the oldest person to have graduated from Minot State College. Later a scholarship was named in her honor to encourage older people to attend college. In 1975 they retired and moved back to Britt.
She was a member of the Britt Congregational United Church of Christ, a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star, a 50 year member of Delta Delta Delta sorority, and a member of Rebekah Lodge and Kings Daughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and one brother.
She is survived by her husband; three sons, Paul of Minneapolis, Minn., Dave of Colorado Springs, Col., and Dan of Astoria, Ore,; one daughter Mrs. Harold (Nancy) Wallen of Britt; nine grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. C.C. (Edna) Smith of Des Moines; and many nieces and nephews.
