Elizabeth Henrietta (Waisner) Barnes was born on October 3, 1922, at Bussey, Iowa. She was the youngest of two children born to William Waisner and Melila Gladys Parker.

Elizabeth graduated from Knoxville High School in 1941, where she met her sweetheart. She was united in marriage with Charles Clifford Barnes on November 26, 1945, they were blessed with three children; Beverly, Clifford and Brian.

Charles was employed with the U.S. Forest Service in Wyoming and Colorado. Elizabeth was a devoted homemaker to her family during those years.

Upon retirement, they moved back to Knoxville, where they cared for their elderly parents.

Charles passed away in 2005, Elizabeth then passed away on August 20, 2018, at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 95. She is survived by her children: Beverly Kloosterman of Knoxville; Clifford and his wife, Joye Lynn of Parker, CO; and Brian Barnes and his wife, Jeannine Alexander of Loveland, CO; and one granddaughter, Sara Cottingham and husband Trey, of Boise, ID.

Elizabeth was active in volunteering at the Marion County Historical Village, and her church, New Covenant Church of Knoxville. Her family remembers her sharp mind completing crossword puzzles almost daily, her love of poetry, and her wonderful gift for cooking.

Visitation was held at Williams Funeral Home on Friday, August 24.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Williams Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
