Funeral services for Edgar Warren Dailey “Ed”, 81, Branson were held Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, at 2 p.m. in the Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home and Crematory, Branson. Pastor Dennis Webb officiated.
Burial followed in the Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery, Branson. Ed passed away Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015.
Edgar Warren Dailey was born on March 18, 1934, in Knoxville. He was the son of Earnest Calvin Dailey and Esther Eldora Thomas Dailey. He had served in the United States Navy during Korean and the Vietnam conflict.
Ed furthered his education at the Long Beach City College in Long Beach, Calif. He married Betty L. Hanson on Dec. 30, 1956, in Knoxville. They celebrated 58 years together this past December.
After he returned from the war, he worked in Des Moines, with the Iowa Liquor Commission; he was a supervisor with the commission; worked with the Iowa Drug Co., and the Western Auto Store; and was a volunteer firefighter for various communities.
Ed was employed with the Des Moines Airport Crash Fire and Rescue as a Fire Fighter.
Ed moved to Hollister from Des Moines in 1981 and then settled in Branson in 1982. Ed was a member of the First Baptist Church of Branson, where he served as head usher for over 20 years, and attended the New Beginnings Church, Hollister.
He was very active in his churches and a wonderful witness for the Lord. Ed was saved as a young adult and talked to many people about the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Esther Dailey; brothers Howard, Robert, and Merle and sisters Sarah Rinehart; Hilda Martinache, Lois Perschbacher; and Helen Beaver.
Ed is survived by his loving wife, Betty Dailey of the home; two sons and their wives, Tim Dailey (Kim) of Garden Grove, Calif.; Kevin Dailey (Angela) of Ozark, Mo.; six daughters and their husbands D Upchurch (John) of Cape Fair, Mo.; Tina Stifel (Steve) of Des Moines; Kim Hutchins (Ron) of Berryville, Ark.; Jessica Dailey of Hollister; Melissa Dailey of Garden Grove, Calif.; Becca Rankin (Michael) Hollister; one brother George Dailey of Knoxville; 15 grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Saturday, Dec. 5, from 1 p.m. until service time at the Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home & Crematory, Branson.
In Ed’s memory, memorials may be made to the Western Taney County Volunteer Fire Fighters Association, for self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), 221 Jefferson Road, Branson, MO 65616.
