Funeral services for Dwight McGraw, who died August 21 at Collins Memorial Hospital were held August 23 from First United Methodist Church with Dr. Leonard E. Deaver officiating. Burial was in Graceland Cemetery under the direction of Evans-McCleery Funeral Service.
Casketbearers were Dr. D.A. Mater, Dr. P.W. Whittenberg, Dee Ward, Calvin Smith, Keith Hawk and Carroll Johnson. Mrs. Lois Anderson, organist accompanied John
Crawford, soloist.
Dwight Donald, son of James Roscoe and Lyde C. Core McGraw, was born in the Red Rock area on March 14, 1908 and was a lifelong resident of Marion County. He graduated from Knoxville High School in 1926. On Jan. 1, 1939 he was united in marriage to Ella Dalen at Calmar. He served in the navy as a storekeeper from 1942 until 1945.
McGraw began his business career with the Rexall Drug, operated a taxi service, was employed as business manager of Collins Memorial Hospital and owned and operated the McGraw Home Decorating Service with his wife. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Independent Order of Odd Fellows and a member of Knoxville Rotary Club for a number of years. His father preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Ella (Dalen); two sons, Donald James of Aurora, Ill., and Daryl Lee of Kent, Wash.; his mother, Mrs. Lyde McGraw of Knoxville; and one sister, Mrs. Ralph (Doris) Reed of Shennadoah.
