Dorothy Louise (May) Hagemann, 89, Texarkana, TX, died on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015, following a brief illness.

She was born on July 5, 1926, in Chariton, IA. Dorothy grew up in Columbia, IA, the only child of James Asbury May (1892 – 1958) & Helen Ruth F Cooper (1893 – 1972).

A graduate of Knoxville, Iowa High School, Class of 1943 and Simpson College, she began her teaching career in Chicago and was an active member of P.E.O. for over 60 years.

In 1952, she married Rev. Robert Grube Hagemann (1923 – 1999), and they established their home in Kansas City, KS. Mom was gentle soul, a caring wife and loving mother to her three sons.

After several moves, including Dubuque, IA, while her husband completed seminary, the family moved to Oklahoma City for their first parish assignment at the Trinity Lutheran Church. Several moves later, the family resided in Abilene, TX at Our Savior Lutheran Church for 13 years. Bob & Dottie ultimately retired to Mercedes, TX in 1993.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband in 1999.

She continued to reside there, active in church and traveling around the U.S. with her dear friend, Marcille, until 2012 when she moved to Texarkana.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Jim & Michelle Hagemann, of Oklahoma City; Jon & Linda Hagemann, of Texarkana, TX; and Jeff & Alice Hagemann, of Grand Prairie, TX; six grandchildren, Robby, Scott, Joy, Danielle, Austin, and Brooke; seven great-grandchildren, Brody, Cruz, Madelyn, Carson, Addison, Nash, and Wyatt; and a number of other relatives.

Interment will be at Rosehill Cemetery in Kansas City, KS.
