Doris Irene (McGraw) Reed was born on November 27, 1911 in Marion County, Iowa, the daughter of James Roscoe and Lyde C. (Core) McGraw.

Doris entered into eternal rest on May 1, 2011 in Boulder City, Nevada at the age of 99 years.
Doris was born and raised in the community of Knoxville. She graduated from Knoxville High School and went on to continue her education at the University of Iowa for two years.

On March 14, 1936 she was united in marriage to Ralph "Pete" Reed in Rock Port, Missouri. The couple enjoyed 52 years of marriage before Pete's passing on November 5, 1988.
Doris was employed by World Publishing Company as their office manager and proof-reader for some 55 years, until her retirement.

She also served as District Treasurer for the Girl Scouts.

She was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church, was a 50 year member of the Business and Professional Women, a 63 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary, involved with Easter Seals, the local Chamber of Commerce, the Shenandoah Booster Club, Editor of Iowa Business Woman Magazine for 28 years, involved in American Field Service as well as National Federation of Press Women.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ralph "Pete", brother Dwight McGraw, and sister-in-law Ella Marie McGraw.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughter Judy Lea Ogden of Boulder City, NV; grandson Clint Ogden of Boise, ID; and nephew Donald McGraw and wife Norma of Colorado
