Donna Marie (Deeringer) Thornburg, age 76, of Knoxville, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
Donna was born on December 15, 1942, in Knoxville, Iowa the daughter of Donald and Bertine (Slykhuis) Deeringer. She grew up in Knoxville and attended Knoxville Community Schools.
Donna was united in marriage to Loren “Junior” Thornburg in 1963. Junior passed away on September 1, 1971.
After his passing, Donna met Arlen Woody and they were companions for over 30 years, before his passing.
Donna was employed at Maytag in Newton and also retired from there. She battled MS after her retirement but always kept a positive attitude.
Donna’s wishes were to be cremated.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2019, at 12:00 P.M. at Greenwood Cemetery in rural Knoxville.
Those left to cherish Donna’s memory include her son, Loren J. Thornburg of Knoxville, and his daughter, Tiffany Fee; step-son, Douglas Thornburg of Knoxville; sister, Kayi Shilling; and half-brother, Bill Slykhuis; also other relatives and friends.
Donna is preceded in death by her husband, Loren “Junior” Thornburg; companion, Arlen Woody; one brother, Don Deeringer; and two sisters, Debra Bennett and Joan Crall.
