Karl Alan Kloster was born April 6, 1953 in Knoxville, Iowa the son of Alexander and Verna (Raschke) Kloster.

He was raised in the Knoxville area and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1972. Following high school, Karl worked at Vermeer for a few years. He eventually took a job at 3M, where he retired after 37 years. Additionally, he farmed all of his life, which was his true passion.

On May 24, 1980, he was united in marriage to Kathaleen Denny in El Sobrante, California. The couple adopted two sons and provided a loving home to many foster children through the years.

In his spare time, Karl enjoyed traveling, helping his friends and neighbors, and working on cars. His greatest joy in life was his grandchildren.

Karl passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2019, at Mercy West Lakes, in West Des Moines, at the age of 66 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Kathaleen and brother, Rev. Alexander Kloster.

Those left to honor Karl’s memory include his wife, Sandra; children: Karl E. (Robin) Kloster of Attica; Tom Kloster of Des Moines and Darrell (Danielle) of Columbia; grandchildren: Kaden, Norah, Austen, and Callan; daughter-in-law, Jessica Minatra; step-granddaughter, Isabella Minatra; sister, Alverna (Gerald) Duhovis; brother, Lynn (Bridget) Kloster and many other family members and friends.

A Funeral Service for Karl A. Kloster, age 66 of Knoxville, will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at the Apostolic Church. Burial will follow in the Graceland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Apostolic Church.
