Donald Lee Rowland was born October 28, 1933, in College Springs, Iowa, to Garold and Marjorie (Mitchell) Rowland, who preceded him in death.

He was a 1952 graduate of Knoxville High School and The University of Nebraska at Omaha with a degree in criminal justice.

After serving in the U.S. Army, Don started his career in law enforcement with the Iowa State Patrol retiring as a Sergeant. After retirement, he became Chief Deputy with the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s office. He was also a member of Salem United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, Don is preceded in death by his infant brother, Carroll.

He is survived by his wife, Elinor; daughter, Sue Kealy, and husband, Bill; son, Dan Rowland, and wife, Julie; daughters, Melanie Brown, Diana Rossmann and husband, Darin; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard, James and Gordon Rowland.

Visitation will be Sunday, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., at Maher-Livingston Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Monday, at 10 a.m., at Salem United Methodist Church, 14955 Somerset Ave., Council Bluffs.

Interment with military honors will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the family with charities to be determined.
