Services for Harold Dean Cleveland, 48, of Knoxville, who died Sept. 24, 1985 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, were held Sept. 27 at Williams Funeral Home.
Interment was in Lincoln Cemetery. Chaplain Donald
Everhart officiated at the services: Music was Provided by Darlene Mooberry, organist,
and John Crawford, vocalist. Pallbearers were Wayne Anderson, Wally Armstrong, Dick
Carlson, A.D. Dainty, Lowell Shaffer, and Jim Still. The honorary bearers were Debra
Lynn, Tracy Ann, Michael Wayne, Patrick Glenn Cleveland, Dwayne Culp, Bill Lundy,
and Ted Williams.
Mr. Cleveland was born on April 12, 1937, in Knoxville, the son
of Glenn and Toddy Cleveland. Following graduation from Knoxville High School,
he served four years in the U.S. Air Force.
He was a past employee of the Bureau of Land Management in Chico, Cal. and after attending barber college in Davenport,
was co-owner of a shop in Knoxville with Ted Williams. He had attended college at
Drake University; N.E. Missouri. State: El Camino Jr. College, and Butte College.
At the time of his death, he was employed by the VA Medical Center and worked part-time for Kruger Seed Co. of Cedar Falls. He was active in the Masonic Lodge, was a 32nd degree Mason, and member of the York Bite Bodies of Knoxville,
Za-Ga-Zig Shrine in Des Moines, the Knoxville VFW, and president of the Marion County Shrine:
Club. He had been a member of the Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his mother of Knoxville; one brother, Ted; one nephew, Patrick;
and two nieces, Debbie and Tracy. A memorial has been established to the Shriner’s Memorial Hospitals.
