Connie Sue (Slycord) Miller was born on November 11, 1949 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She was the daughter of Dorothy May Hall and Cornie Slycord.

On May 14, 1966, she was united in marriage to Gene Hegwood. To this union, three children were born.

On December 9, 1972, she was married to Jarman Lee Miller. To this union, one child was born.

Connie worked at the Marion County Care Facility and Park Lane Village briefly.
She was employed for over 30 years as a custodian at West Elementary School in Knoxville.
She loved being around the children and was very disappointed when she had to retire
in 2007 due to poor health. The children affectionately called her “Miss Connie.”

Connie was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church. Her grandchildren were
the center of her life. Connie attended their sports events and activities. She
always had time for the grandchildren.

Connie especially loved celebrating the holidays
with her family. Halloween was her favorite. She looked forward to Christmas when
the family would stay in a motel together.

Connie Miller passed away on Friday, October 31, 2008, at Hospice Comfort House in
Pella at the age of 58 years, 11 months, and 20 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Those left to mourn her passing are her husband of nearly 36 years, Jarman “Hottie”
Miller of Pershing; 3 daughters and their husbands, Teresa and Leo Cowman of Knoxville,
Tammy and Ernie Wright of Knoxville and Jennifer and Brad Griffin of Melcher-Dallas;
11 grandchildren, Natasha, Zac, and Tyson Wright, Nathan Hegwood, Ashley, and Shelby
Hall, Calob and Kerri Seibert, Megan and Kody Griffin and Shaun Anderson; 1 sister,
Pamela Slycord of Knoxville; and 5 brothers, Larry Slycord and his wife, Linda of
Tillamook, Oregon, Jerry Slycord and his wife, Vicki of Knoxville, Roger Slycord
and his wife, Kathy of Muscatine, David Slycord of Longmont, Colorado, and Dennis
Slycord and his wife, Kelly of Knoxville.

Services were held on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, at Williams Funeral Home with Pastor
Bud Land and Pastor Richard Grimes officiating. The interment was in Zion Cemetery near
Pershing, Iowa.

Casket bearers were Nick Clark, Brian Hall, Gene Hegwood Jr., Dave McKinney,
Curt Myers, Roy Provenzano, and Kenny Vander Linden.
