Funeral services for Coleen Funk, 79, of Knoxville, who died May 12, at West Ridge
Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Knoxville were held May 14, 1997, at Bybee
and Davis Funeral Home in Knoxville. Burial was at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville.
The Rev. Martha Ward and Elder Dick Young officiated at the services. Music was
provided by Jim Kidder, the organist. Pallbearers were Bryan Funk and Steven Funk. Michael
Funk, Tom Lunsford, James Funk III, and Randy Lunsford. Honorary bearers were Nathan
Funk and Christopher Funk.
Coleen was born June 6, 1917, in Knoxville, the daughter of James B. and Ruth H.
Schlotterback Crawford. She lived her entire life in Knoxville and graduated from
Knoxville High School.
She was united in marriage to James Funk on June 17, 1940, in Cedar Rapids. She
worked for over 25 years as a secretary at the VA Medical Center in Knoxville. At
the time of her retirement, she was the Assistant Hospital Director's Secretary.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the National Association
of Retired Federal Employees.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a sister, Kathryn Brown.
She is survived by a daughter, Pamela Loomis of Knoxville; two sons, James Jr.,
of Des Moines, and Robert of Knoxville; a brother, Dale Vs Crawford of Racine, Wis.; 10 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Iowa Commission for the Blind; w Hospice of Central
Iowa; and the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements were made by a Bybee and Davis Funeral Home in Knoxville.
