Charles Junior Voyce was the son of Charles Voyce and Ethel O'Farren Voyce. He was born, May 24, 1921, in Evans, Iowa. He lived in Iowa until he began his service to our country. Charles Voyce served during WWII flying B-29s in the Pacific Theater.
Charles met his wife, Christine Fern Howell, when he was a young pilot in Texas. Charles and Christine married in 1946.
Charles J Voyce was recalled to military service during the Korean Conflict. On 5 Aug 1950 at Fairfield-Suisun AFB, a B-29 crashed, burned, and exploded. Lt Voyce was a passenger and an aid to General Robert Travis. The tragic crash claimed the lives of many of the men on the plane and five firefighters and volunteers on the ground.
Lt Charles Voyce continued his career in military service. After a dedicated career, he retired as a Lt Colonel in 1966 in Santa Maria CA.
He died Oct. 16, 2003 in Santa Barbara County, California.
