Charles G. “Chuck” Cook, 73, of rural Burlington died at 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, at his home.
Born Jan. 14, 1934, in Eldora, he was the son of Charles E. and Pauline Harsin Cook.
On Feb. 4, 1978, he married Betty L. Newsom Wirt at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.
Mr. Cook was a graduate of Knoxville High School. He also served in the National Guard. He was manager for Farmers Coop Elevator in Knoxville for 17 years, then drove a truck for Aldi’s, and Umthun’s, and retired in 1995 from Case Fleet. He then worked fa Agrilance in Sperry until retiring in 2005.
Mr. Cook attended Sperry United Methodist Church, was a member of Moose Lodge No. 579 in Burlington, and enjoyed fishing, boating, and riding motorcycles.
Mr. Cook was a devoted husband, dad, and grandfather who devoted his whole life to his family.
Survivors include his honey, Betty L. Cook of rural Burlington; three sons, Mike (Deb) Wirt of Burlington, Nick Wirt of McKinney, Texas, and Michael Cook of Chicago, Ill.; one daughter Julie Morris of Knoxville; five grandchildren including Collin (Amanda) Wirt, Aaron Wirt, and Nichole Wirt (Andrew Mark); precious great-granddaughter and light of his life, Presley Wirt; and two sisters including Jonna Systma of Knoxville.

His parents preceded him in death.
The funeral service for Mr. Cook was Thursday, Jan. 3, in Lunning Chapel
Interment was in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established.
