Funeral services for Carolyn Beth (Hammond) Horan, 71, of Council Bluffs, formerly of Knoxville, who died December 5, 1998, at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha, Neb., were held December 8, 1998, at Beem Belford Chapel in Council Bluffs.
Inurnment will be at a later date at Breckenridge Cemetery in Marion County.
Carolyn was born July 10, 1927, in Knoxville, the daughter of Elmer Hammond and Gladys Reeves. She graduated from
Knoxville High School in 1945 and was a graduateāOf Buena Vista University in Storm Lake.
She was united in marriage to James Carl Horan. She and her husband owned and operated Town Crier in Fairfield. She had worked for the Knoxville Journal, and was last employed by Loess Hills Southern Hospitality. She had lived in Council bluffs since 1977.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James November 11, 1974.
She is survived by four daughters, Molly Horan, Meg Horan, and Bridget Pospisal, all of Council Bluffs, and Martha Horan of Aspen, Colo.; two sons, Michael of Ottumwa, and John of Council Bluffs; and five grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Lung or Heart Associations.
