Funeral services for Carole Ruth Vink, 56, of Tracy, who died October 6, at the Iowa Methodist Center in Des Moines, were held October 8, 1999, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Pella.

Burial was at Graceland Cemetery in Pella. The Rev. Carl A. Heuss officiated at the services. Music was provided by Maryan De Haan, organist, and Kara Smit, soloist.

Pallbearers were Lance Bailey, Jeremy Bailey Ryan Bailey, Gary DeYoung, Jason DeYoung, and Lance Reinsma.

Carole was born Jan. 18, 1943,in Knoxville, the daughter of Bert and Vera Lenig Swearngain. She attended grade school in Attica and Knoxville and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1961.

She received a degree in Special Education from the University of Iowa in 1972, and received a master's degree in counseling from Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University) in Kirksville. She had worked in the Pella Community School District since 1975.

She was united in marriage to Marion L. Vink on June 8, 1962, in Pella. The couple lived in Columbus Junction, Oklahoma City, Okla. Honolulu, Hawaii, and Davenport before moving to Pella in 1975. She has lived near Tracy for the past 22 years. She was a member of Covenant Reformed Church in Pella.

She was preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her mother of Knoxville; her husband; three daughters, Nicole Fopma of Pella, Kelli Kruid of Coralville, and Angela Alsum of Sioux Center; a son, Chad of Sioux Center; a brother, Don Swearngain of Knoxville; a sister, Connie Bailey of Bussey; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may he made to the Covenant Reformed Church building fund, and to KCWN Christian radio station.
