Private services were held Thursday, November 1976, for 18 year old Carmen Peak the daughter
of Dr. and Mrs. Frank Peak who died Wednesday of head injuries suffered when one
of her riding horses fell on her three days earlier.

It was the second tragedy to
strike the Peak family this fall, following the death of their daughter Lisa, a
a sophomore coed at Wartburg College.

Carmen, along with family friends, were at the
Peak's acreage north of Knoxville Sunday afternoon where they planned to horse ride
and when Miss Peak attempted to mount her horse it apparently reared up and fell
on her when she was thrown.

She was a seventh-grade student at Nell McGowen Jr.
High here and is survived by her parents two brothers, Peter and Marty, and a sister,
Meredith.
