Carmen Colleen (Binns) Hauenstein was born on Aug. 14, 1952, in Oskaloosa to Kenneth Troy and Margaret Loretta (Vance) Binns.

She was raised in the Oskaloosa area and attended Twin Cedars Schools. She worked at 3-M for 13 years. Carmen also owned an upholstery business and had stores in Bussey and Lovilia.

Most recently she had been working at Peggy's Place, where she started in 1997. Carmen was a member of the Hillbilly Clan of the Marion County Shriners.
She enjoyed camping, fishing and horseback riding.She also loved spending time with her grandchildren. Carmen passed away on July 26, 2006, in Harvey at the age of 53.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Survivors include her mother, Margaret Vance of Harvey; two daughters, Teresa "Terrie&quot Durham of Harvey and Tracie Hauenstein of Lovilia; one son, Tony Hauenstein of Harvey; two sisters, Cynthia Self of Haivey and Christa Gritters of Pella; a brother, Kenneth Binns of Iowa City and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on July 29 at Bybee and Davis Funeral Home with Pastor Forrest Durham officiating.
