Bonnie Ruth (Fleming) Wallace was born on February 27, 1946 to Robert J. and Wilma Ruth Landis Fleming at Broadlawns Hospital, Des Moines, Iowa.
Bonnie was taken home to 1228 E Emma Avenue, a converted chicken coop, a half block west of Highway #69. Bonnie passed away on November 17, 2024 holding her husband’s hand, a half block east of Highway #69 (495 miles south from her beginnings).
During her 78 years, her childhood included relocating to Bayard, New Mexico; Los Angeles, California; and she became a “Valley Girl” in San Fernando. At age 12, her family moved to Knoxville, Iowa where her early interests became a love for horses and joining the local saddle club. Often, she was seen helping the elderly and shut-ins in her neighborhood.
At age 16, Bonnie was introduced to the Wallace family (never to be the same). After high school graduation, she attended Apostolic Bible Institute, St. Paul, Minnesota, for one year.
On July 3, 1965, Bonnie was wed to Duane Wallace. This marriage, lasted until her death, some 59 years. To this union was born three children, David, VeNisa, and Brad, each of whom she helped develop into outstanding citizens, spouses, and Christians.
Some of the many interests that Bonnie enjoyed were, reading, learning, teaching, supporting, and encouraging others. She believed in people. She had a love for nature, all flowers. It was said of her that she could make a pencil grow. As an Iowa State Master Gardner, she initiated and helped create the Butterfly Garden at her hometown hospital.
Bonnie leaves a trail of improvements in places and in people. Her love and trust in the Lord follow after her in the families of her children: David (Mindi) Wallace, VeNisa (Derek) Hanson, and Brad (Ruth) Wallace; Grandchildren: Shirae (Brent) Spencer, Spenser (Erin) Wallace, Callie Wallace (deceased), Cade (Breylin) Wallace; Christian (Madison) Hanson, Aubrey Hanson; Abigail Wallace, Nick (Delanie) Wallace, Andrew (Savanah) Wallace, Elisabeth Wallace, Nathanael Wallace, Josiah Wallace; Five Great-Grandchildren: Parker Spencer, Rory Spencer, Simeon Wallace, Liylah Hanson, Caroline Wallace Extended family: Linda (Gerald) Ball, Mark (Juvelyn) Wallace, Jackie (Ann) Wallace, and many favorite nieces and nephews.
