Robert L. Vander Linden Services for Robert L. Vander Linden, 66, of Ankeny and
formerly of Knoxville, who died in an airplane accident June 27, 1994, in Lakeville, Minn.,
were held July 1, 1994, at Ankeny First United Methodist Church in Ankeny. Burial
was at Ankeny Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Robert was born on Dec. 31, 1927, in Eddyville,
the son of Ira and Belle Vander Linden. Robert was a graduate of Knoxville High
School. He has lived in Ankeny since 1956. He had served in the Marines during the
Korean War. He was a teacher, coach and athletic director at Lincoln High School
in Des Moines for 25 years, until his retirement in 1992.

He was a member of the
Ankeny United Methodist Church, Ankeny Lions Club, the Drake Relays Committee, Iowa
High School Football Coaches Hall of Fame, United Methodist Men, Central College
Club, the Special Olympics Committee, and was active in the Iowa State Track Club.

He is survived by his wife, Louise; a daughter, Debbie Brownfield, of Ames; three
sons, Mark of Ankeny, Tom of Elkhart, and Rob of Columbia, Mo.; three brothers,
Paul Vander Linden of rural Knoxville, Ray Vander Linden of Neosho, Mo. and Dale
Vander Linden of Baxter; five sisters, Viola Knapp of Cedar Falls, Muriel Sharp
of Knoxville, Edna Nelson of Dallas, Lucille Urias of Newton and Ruth Mikesell of
Newton; and six grandchildren.
