Orville Vernon Deskin, 87, of Marshalltown died of a heart ailment Monday at Veterans Medical Center in Knoxville. The body will be cremated, and graveside memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today at Chapel Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Deskin was born in Avery and had lived in Des Moines most of his life before moving to Marshalltown six years ago.
He had been a truck salesman, an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Acanthus Masonic Lodge, Za Ga Zig Shrine, Royal Arch Masons of Iowa and the American Legion.
A niece and a nephew survive. Arrangements are being handled by Hamilton's Funeral Home.
