Funeral services for Benjamin "Benny" Nar Brooks, 77, of Knoxville, who died Nov.
29 at the Kavanagh House on Grand, in West Des Moines, were held yesterday at the
Pleasantville Christian Church with Pastor John Claussen & Pastor Lynda Carlson
officiating. Interment was at the Pleasantville Cemetery.

Brooks was born on June
17, 1927, in Knoxville, to Ray and Clarice (Long) Brooks. He was born and raised
on a farm and was a farmer at heart for his entire life. He graduated from Knoxville
High School in 1944.

On Sept. 21, 1947, he married Mildred Knouse.
The couple raised their family on the farm north of Pleasantville.

Brooks was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Midge; his children: Lynn (Kenneth) Horsman of Pleasantville;
Charlotte (Tom) Moore of The Villages, Fla.; Jenifer (Randy) Rowray of Des Moines;
Jerry Hartz (Jennifer Vasiloff) of Arlington, Va.; Sandy (Rich) Oldaker of Milo;
Donna (Doyle) Schrader of Lacona and Roger Hartz of Atlantic; ten grandchildren:
Dana (Glenn) Ginger, Mike Reeves, Jolene Horsman, Tom Horsman, Val (Shawn) Wright,
Evelyn Hartz, Alicia Hartz, Ben Rowray, Nathan Rowray and Brooklyn Rowray; two great-grandchildren:
Ashton Horsman and Brayden Wright; his sisters: Frances Jordan and Helen Stevenson,
of Knoxville, and Barbara (Larry) Peterson of Ankeny; his brothers: James (Merry Jo) Brooks, Bob (Dorothy) Brooks and Marvin (Joyce) Brooks, all of Knoxville, and
many other family members and friends..

Memorials may be made to the Pleasantville
Christian Church, the Pleasantville Booster Club or Hospice Kavanagh House on Grand.
Arrangements were made by the Mason Funeral Home.
