Amanda Marie “Mandie” (Busch) Johnson passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017, at her residence in Knoxville, Iowa.
A visitation for Mandie will be held Sunday, May 7, 2017, from 12:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M., at Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville. Mandie’s family will be greeting friends from 3:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
A celebration of Mandie’s life will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, May 8, 2017, at Winfield Funeral Home, with Celebrant Danielle Knapp officiating. A private family burial will be held on a later date.
Mandie was born January 9, 1971, in Pella, Iowa; the daughter of Carl Lee and Delores Marie (Bassett) Busch. The family grew up in Knoxville and Mandie was active in school sports. She played volleyball, and basketball, was on the track team, and as a freshman, Mandie made the varsity volleyball team.
Mandie was a homemaker most of her life, raising her two sons, Andrew and Kaden. She enjoyed rock hunting with her family and she was a very talented artist and loved doing floral arrangements. In most recent years, she spent all of her time with her beloved dog, Beanie by her side.
Mandie is survived by two sons, Andrew VandeKamp (father, Steve VandeKamp) and Kaden Johnson (father, Steve Johnson) both of Knoxville; one granddaughter, Henslee VandeKamp; parents, Delores & Gary Cowman of Knoxville; stepmother, Joyce Busch of Des Moines; one great grandmother, Betty Bassett; two sisters, Darbie Utterback and Jodie Busch both of Knoxville; two half-sisters, Angie and Christina Busch both of Des Moines; two half brothers, CW and Josh Busch; and three step sisters, Lory Johnson, Jenni Rowley, and Shawn Fagen.
Mandie is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and five very special friends, Alisha Serold, Thane (Ridlen) Kading, Kris (Kading) Heimstra, Brenda (Johnson) Hassel, and Heidi Brooks as well as many other beloved classmates and friends.
Mandie is preceded in death by her father, Carl Lee Busch; grandparents John Bassett; Joe and Barb Busch and Ernie and Martha Cowman; two aunts, Dale Marie Bassett and Linda Cowman; and two uncles, Ed Busch and Richard Houge.
Memorials may be made to the family and will be directed at a later date. The Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville is helping Mandie’s family with services.
