Allen Kent Irving passed away on Aug. 1, 2014, at Botwell Hospital in Sedalia, Mo. He was born on May 1, 1949, in Jefferson, Iowa, to Edna Pearl (Anderson) Irving and Miles Matthew Irving.

Allen spent most of his years growing up in Knoxville. He graduated from Knoxville High School in 1967, and worked for Hy-Vee during his high school years.

He worked and lived in various places after graduating as a construction worker, finally settling in Sedalia, Mo

He especially enjoyed the outdoors, loved to fish, and only kept the big catch! He had many hobbies, a passion for gardening and flowers, and spent many hours in the dirt. He was a good cook and was always working with wood.

Kathy Millsap was his companion and best friend for 30 years. He also spent many days and nights with his special friends Charlie and Steph Lowe. He grew to love them as a second family.

He is survived by his two children Brandon Irving of Ankeny, and Dusty (Jeremy) Holounbek, and three grandchildren of Aurora, Ill.; his mother, Edna (Anderson) Irving of Lovilia; brothers and sisters Tim (Arla) Irving of Cheyenne, Wy.; Pam (Lee) Dachenbach of Knoxville; Linda (James) Kelly of Osceola; Charlene Schippers of Pella; Daryl (Sue) Irving of Knoxville; Jeff (Judy) Irving of Sun City, Ariz., and Diane (John) Collins of Drakesville, Iowa.

Allen also left many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his father Miles, brother Brent Wayne Irving, nephew Matthew Wayne Irving, and brother-in-law Keith Schippers, along with other special relatives.

There will be a memorial on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Columbia Cemetery. A potluck will follow at the Columbia Fire Station, 1032 Virginia St.

In lieu of flowers memorials should be made in the care of Allen Irving expenses for a proper burial.
