Alberta Arlene (Anderson) Putney, 85, of Wichita Falls, died Monday, October 29, 2012.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2012, in
the chapel of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls with Rev. Rick Ross
officiating. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. Arrangements are
under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.

A daughter of the late Hettie Jane (Town) and Edward Jerome Anderson, Arlene was
born November 30, 1926, in rural Marion County, Iowa.

She was educated in rural schools and attended Knoxville High School. Upon the death
of her father, Arlene, and her mother moved to Newton, Iowa, where she graduated
high school. Following her graduation, she took a course at the A.I.B. Business
School in Des Moines. She then returned to Newton to work as a secretary for the
Salvation Army. In 1948, Arlene completed the Salvation Army School for Officers 's
Training in Chicago and served as a Christian worker in several Iowa towns.

Arlene met and married James R. Putney in 1950 while working in Charles City, Iowa.

James made a career in the Air Force, and Arlene was always by his side, except
while he served in Korea and Vietnam. Arlene was also preceded in death by her daughter,
Karen R. Tazelaar; eight sisters and three brothers.

She is survived by her husband, James R. Putney, Sr. (b.Oct 21, 1932-d.July 2, 2013)of Wichita Falls;
son, James R. Putney, Jr. and wife Tammy of South Carolina; daughter, Diana A. Baker and husband John of Minnesota; son, Timothy Alan Putney, Sr. and wife Janet of Wichita Falls;
sixteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and sister, Wyoma Ellis of
Iowa.

The family will receive friends and family from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November
1, 2012, at the funeral home.
