Virginia Marjorie Roberts, 81, died Tuesday, October 26, 2004 at the age of 81 in Pleasant Hill, Polk, IA at Iowa Methodist medical center. Services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, October 29 at Hamilton's funeral home.
Virginia was born December 6, 1922 in Percy, Marion, IA and moved to Knoxville in 1938, where she graduated from high school in 1941. she moved to Des Moines in 1946 and became part-owner of advance floor covering, inc. in 1958.
Virginia was a member of Wesley United Methodist church and enjoyed fishing, cooking and spending time with her family.
She married Henry Dow Vail, on July 26, 1941 in Unionville, Mo. at the age of 18; he preceded her in death in (1918-1993).
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Ray Milton Roberts (1898-1977) and Amy Rosetta (Findlow)(1902-1988).
Virginia is survived by her sons, Thomas Ray Vail born Feb. 17, 1947 in Des Moines & 1967 married (Linda Sue Stenslie) of Pleasant Hill and William Gene Vail born Nov. 11, 1954 of Altoona; grandchildren, Michael Thomas, Timothy Shawn, Michelle Lynn, Steven and Adam; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Kelsey; and brother, Leo Eugene "Gene" (Stephanie) Roberts of Russell.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. memorial contributions may be made to the juvenile diabetes research foundation.
