Funeral services for Vernon Rickenbaugh will be held 11 a.m. Monday, April
11, 2005 at Richardson Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Lowman Cemetery in
Runnels.

Vernon was born October 19, 1921 in Red Rock. He was the son of Earl and
Rosa (Karr) Rickenbaugh. He was raised in Knoxville and graduated from Knoxville
High School in 1941. Recently he received the honor of being inducted into the Knoxville
High School Athletic Hall of Fame as a member of the 1939 State Championship Cross
County Team.

On July 22, 1944 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Furnoy, daughter
of Archie and Gladyce Furnoy. Their children included, Pam (John) Danks of Pleasantville,
Ronnie (Dec'd) and "daughter" Pat (Larry) Bistine of Runnells.

Their grandchildren
are Ron (Susan) Danks of Pleasantville, Nikki (Dave) Roorda of Ankeny and Andi Danks
of Pella. They have three great-grandchildren, Maddie Roorda and Gabbie Roorda of
Ankeny and Emma Danks of Pleasantville.

Vernon had three brothers, Harold (Betty)
Rickenbaugh of Murfreesboro, TN, Warren (Jodi) Rickenbaugh of Granbury, TX and Jim
(Linda) Rickenbaugh of Knoxville, four sisters, Betty (Harlan) Miller of Knoxville,
Beverly (Bob) Rigel of Des Moines, Sheryl (Jerry) Kersey, Harvey; Vicky Barrios
(Butch) of Galliano, LA.

His family also included Bill and Nancie Furnoy; brother-in-law
and sister-in-law, several nieces, nephews and close friends. Vernon retired from
Iowa Power (Mid-American) in 1981. He loved his family. He also enjoyed camping,
sports, reading, crossword puzzles, fishing, being outside and yard work. Vernon
will be missed by all.

Visitation will be held 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday at the funeral
home. Richardson Funeral Home; Carlisle, Iowa.
