Funeral services for Shirley Ann (Newton) Vander Veer, 58, Knoxville,
who died October 22, at Knoxville Area Community Hospital, were held October 24,
1994, at the Bybee and Davis Funeral Home in Knoxville.

Burial was at Lincoln Cemetery.
The Reverend William R. Allred Sr. officiated at the services. Music was provided
by Sharon Allied and the Allred Family. Pallbearers were Paul Jordan, Daryl Jordan,
Robert Burton, John Jordan, Richard Hunt and Bob Ackerson.

Shirley was born December
24, 1935, on the family farm west of Knoxville, the daughter of Glen H. and Ruby
Jordan Newton.

She graduated from Knoxville High School in the Class of 1954. She
also attended Drake University in Des Moines for two years. Shirley was employed
by the Knoxville Veteran's Hospital for 30 years, working in the engineering department
in the grounds and building division. Earlier in her employment, she was a secretary
for the medical staff for 21 years, retiring in 1990.

She spent her entire life
on the farm. She loved to work with her close friend, Jim Vander Veer, and he taught
her how to run many different items of equipment.
She was a kind and loving person
and she and her mother had a very close relationship throughout her entire life.
Shirley was a member of the Regular Baptist church of Knoxville.

She was preceded
in death by her father on April 24, 1959 and her brother, Norman, who died in infancy.
She is survived by her mother, Ruby Newton and her close friend, Jim Vander Veer,
along with a number of other family members.

Memorials may be made to the Regular
Baptist Church in Knoxville. Funeral arrangements were made by the Bybee and Davis
