Graveside services for Richard Dean Hendrix Sr., 68, of Decatur, Ill., who died
April 12, at the Decatur Memorial Hospital, were held April 17, 1999, at Graceland
Cemetery in Knoxville. A Masonic service was provided by Oriental Lodge #61, A.F.& A.M.
Elder Bill McDonald officiated at the services.
Pallbearers were T.J. Teel, A.J.
Miller, Bill Malooly, Todd Teel, Doug Nichols, and Rodney Perry. Honorary bearer
were Roy Mavin, Allen Nichols e Darrel Ohnemus, Don Grife, Marvin Slykhuis, Tammy
Malooly, and Bethel VanKlootwyk.
Richard was born March 2, 1931, in Columbia, the
son of Clarence S. and Nancy Maude Holliday Hendrix. He graduated from Knoxville
High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. After his honorable
discharge, he returned to Knoxville and worked at Firestone Tire and Rubber.
He
was united in marriage to Shirley Irene Farnsworth on November 26, 1958. He was
transferred by Firestone to Decatur, Ill., in 1963, and retired after 40 years of
service. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Crestview Christian Church,
and a 25-year member of the Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents;
and his wife. He is survived by two sons, Richard Jr., of Arthur, Ill., and i Clarence
of Decatur; a daughter, Cynthia Kay Teel of Mt. Zion, Ill.; a sister, Colleen Nichols
of Knoxville; and six grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Make A Wish Foundation,
and Decatur Memorial Hospital Cancer Care. Arrangements were made by Bybee and Davis
Funeral Home in Knoxville.
