Services for Raymond Eugene "Gene" Light, 67, of Pleasantville, who passed away
April 18, 1991, were held April 18 at Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville.
Interment
was in Graceland Cemetery. Rev. Tim Stanwood officiated at the services. Music was
provided by organist Mildred Brooks. Pallbearers were Benny, Brooks, Wayne Collins,
Harold Core, Donald De Moss, Bob Mc Cullough and Joe Mundell.
Gene was born July
7,1923 in Attica. He was the son of Elbert McKinley and Florence Isabelle Little
Light. He was one of three children born to this union. Gene had spent his entire
life in Marion County.
He attended Knoxville High School. Gene's true volition in
life was farming. He enjoyed his work of farming as a hobby too. He also enjoyed
restoring old cars and especially a tractor that he was going to have his grandson
drive for him in parades. Gene incorporated his hobbies, farming, family and restoring
old vehicles all into his life's work and his enjoyment.
He was preceded in death
by his father, Elbert; a son, Raymond Eugene Jr.; a grandson, Grant Eugene Dunkin
and a brother, Don Light.
Those family members surviving him are his wife; Velta
of Pleasantville; three daughters, Rita Dunkin of Pleasantville, Mrs. Dan (Ruth
Ann) Calhoun of Pleasantville and Carmen Light of Pleasantville; his mother, Florence
Light of Knoxville; five grandchildren, Chad and Stacie Dunkin of Pleasantville,
Marty Dunkin of Indianola, Craig and Lori Calhoun of Pleasantville; one great-grandson,
Tyler Dunkin. His father-in-law George Roff of Knoxville and one sister Mrs. LeRoy
(Roberta) Kinart of Monroe, also many other other relatives and a host of friends.

Memorials have been established to the Pleasantville Rescue Unit.
