Raymond Lee Glover was born July 30, 1930 in Knoxville, Iowa the son of John and Pearl (Swayne) Glover.
Ray graduated from Knoxville High School with the Class of 1949. He drove a coal for a brief time, but spent the majority of his working years running parts departments for Chevrolet dealers. Ray also worked at 3M, in the parts department, for 8 years prior to his retirement in 1992.
He was united in marriage to Deloris Sondrol on September 8, 1954 in Knoxville. To this union three children were born: Denise, Kimberly and Brian.
Ray and Deloris enjoyed dancing most Saturday nights, traveling and had attended several Hawkeye Bowl games. He was also an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings and any sport his kids or grandkids were playing. The most important part of Ray’s life was his family, he cherished his wife, children and grandchildren.
Ray passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at the West Ridge Nursing & Rehab Center at the age of 85 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Deloris and 3 siblings: Alberta Rowley, Evelyn Pidcock and Jerry Glover.
Those left to honor Ray’s memory include his children: Denise Kendrick, Kimberly Stanton and Brian (Lisa) Glover all of Knoxville; grandchildren: Rhiannon, Staci, Jamie, Kellie, Kassi and Kellen; two brothers: Dwight (Teresa) Glover and Dwayne Glover both of Knoxville and many other family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life for Ray Glover, age 85 of Knoxville, will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will begin after 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
