Kevin Andrew DeGoey age 59, of Knoxville, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday morning January 9, 2015.

Kevin wishes were to be cremated and his family will be greeting friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday evening, January 13, 2015 at the Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville.

During and after Kevin’s celebration at the funeral home, the family has invited friends to the V.F.W. where Fareway will be providing a meal in honor of Kevin.

Kevin was born in Iowa City, Iowa on March 7, 1955, the son of Robert Jacob and Marge Edith (Goodsell) DeGoey. He was a graduate of Knoxville High School, Class of 1973.

After high school Kevin studied masonry at South Western Community College and began his working career in construction. He was a nurse’s assistant for 19 years at the V.A. Hospital and since it’s opening in Knoxville in 2000 Kevin worked in the meat department of Fareway.

On June 3 of 1978, in Pella, Iowa, Kevin and Cindy Rae Nelson were united in marriage. Kevin and Cindy have shared 36 years together and Kevin and were blessed with Cindy’s daughter Jenni.

Kevin was very friendly and liked talking with people. He enjoyed fishing, shooting pool, making knives, playing cribbage, arrowhead hunting, baseball cards and especially camping with family at the Iowa State Fair.

Kevin is survived by his wife Cindy Nelson of Knoxville. The rest of Kevin’s family includes Jenni Rowley, Alan Rowley, Brandon Rowley, Kelsey Rowley,
McKenzie Ogden, Alan and Bobbie Graves, Lisa Weldon, and many other family and friends.

Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Marge DeGoey and his sister Diane Graves.

A memorial in Kevin’s memory will be established at a later date. Condolences may be sent to www.winfieldfh.com. The Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville is helping Kevin’s family with services.
