Services for Kenneth Robson Meek, 73, of Grinnell, who died of cancer Saturday, Feb. 24, 1990,
were held Feb. 27 at the Grinnell First Presbyterian Church. Smith Funeral Home
was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in Hazelwood Cemetery, Grinnell.
Mr. Meek was born on July 5, 1916 at Abilene, Ks., the son of Harry G. and Florence
B. Robson Meek.
He graduated from Knoxville High School in 1936.
On Dec. 25, 1940 in Des Moines, he married Juanita Clora Coy (June 14, 1920- April 24, 2007). He was preceded in death
by his father in 1980 and his brother, Eugene in 1985.
He served in the Army during World War II, and achieved the rank of staff sergeant.
Moving to Grinnell in 1947, they operated the Dixie Carmel Corn Shop on Main Street
until 1952 when he began working for Preston's Clothing Store.
In 1957 he began his career as an agent for State Farm Insurance where he continued
for 25 years, retiring in 1982. Ken and Juanita enjoyed camping, boating and fishing.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church,
Grinnell.
He is survived by his wife; his mother of Dallas, Tx.; one daughter, Sally and Chuck Oxley of Columbus, Nebraska, Steven and Maggie Meek of Grinnell, and Harry and Karen Meek of Montezuma; four grandchildren, Suzy Oxley of Ankeny, Jeff Oxley of Westminster, Colorado, Kim Kline of Brooklyn and Sheralynn Kass of Omaha, Nebraska, one brother, Keith of Dallas, Tx.; and one sister Hariett Lyon of Chico, Ca.
Rev.Michael D. Smith officiated at the services. Music was provided by Shirle Cline,
organist. Pallbearers were Jerry Goodlaxson, Paul Hamor, Michael Hotchkin, Kenneth
Isenberg, Charley F. King, Robert Larson and Glenn Leggett.
