Karen Kay (Jones) Ikerd – Scarff, 71, of Brighton died early Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at Halcyon House in Washington.

She was born August 23, 1945, in Osgood, MO to Raymond Keith and Violet Virginia Meeker Jones.

Karen was raised in Knoxville, IA, and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1963. Later, she graduated from Capri Cosmetology College in Fairfield.

Karen married Ronnie G. Ikerd and they divorced, she also married Robert A. Fisher and they were also divorced.

She moved to Brighton in 1975 and later opened Brighton Hair Affair which she operated on until her health began to fail.

She was the Activities Director at the All American Care Center in Washington for 3 years. Karen enjoyed shopping, camping, fishing, and camping at the Iowa State Fair. She was a member of the First Church of God and had been a Cub Scout leader.

Karen is survived by two sons: Ronnie Ikerd of Knoxville and Curt Ikerd and his wife Cokie of Brighton and two daughters: Bobbi Sue Higdon of Washington and Holly Fisher of Pella and 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister, Sharon.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday at the Brighton First Church of God with Pastor Ryan Meader and Rev. Rick Zickefoose officiating.

Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville at 2 P.M. Friday afternoon. Visitation will be at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton Thursday afternoon where the family will be present from 5:30 to 7 P.M.

Memorials for Hospice of Washington County or the First Church of God may be left at the funeral home, or church or mailed to the family at 617 S. 3rd Street, Washington, IA 52353.
