John Larkin Cox, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Cox, was born at the farm home south of Knoxville, Iowa, August 24, 1919 and entered into his eternal rest at the University Hospital in Iowa City, July 26, 1937, his age being 17 years, 11 months and two days.

He received his education at the Rising Star school and in the Knoxville High School, graduating with honors in the class of 1937.

He was taken seriously ill last Thursday morning and on Friday he was removed to the hospital where everything known to medical science was done to help him, but he passed away early the following Monday morning.

John endeared himself, not only to the members of his family and their relatives, but to all who knew him and was popular with his classmates at school. He was of a kindly, genial disposition with the genius to make and keep friends. At high school he was a member of the Hi-Y cabinet.

He was interested in the work of the farm especially in stock raising

He confessed faith in Christ as his Savior united with the Presbyterian Church in Knoxville and gave promise of becoming a devoted useful member.

Surviving him are his father and mother, and one brother, Donald Hall, another brother, preceded him and death in February, 1933. One grandmother, Mrs. Sue Cox, also survives him, besides a number of relatives who are near of kin, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at the Roberts and Evans funeral home conducted by the Rev. O. L. Carr.

Burial was in Graceland Cemetery.
