A celebration of life forFaye Lucille (Van Hemert) Van Rees, 85, who passed away Oct. 29 at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital, was held Nov. 2 at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home with Rev.. Neil Montz officiating.

Van Rees was born on July 31, 1919, in Knoxville, the daughter of Jim and Marie
(Ver Steeg) Van Hemert.

She was raised in Knoxville and graduated with the class of 1937. On May 18, 1940
she married Colonel Van Rees. He drove for Continental Trailways for many years
and She worked for local attorneys, the County Recorder and the Ration Board prior
to working at the federal government's ASCS office. She retired from the ASCS office
after 21 years on January 21, 1974. Van Rees loved life; she enjoyed visiting with
her many friends and spending time with her family.

She was always willing to lend a helping hand, whether by volunteering for a local
organization or just listening to anyone needing to talk. She was very active in
the community, and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Pine Knolls Country
Club, Knoxville Area Community Hospital Auxiliary, First United Methodist Church
and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

Van Rees was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister and brother-in-law,
Bertie and Dale Wolf, and one niece, Susan Wolf Brown.

Those left to honor her memory include two great-nephews, one great-niece and their
parents, who played a very important role in her life. They are Chad and Heather Brown and their two sons, Kyle and Seth, of Forest City; Ryan and Susan Brown and
their daughter, Katie, of Gastonia, N.C., Jennifer Brown and her son Alex of Knoxville
and Norm and Suzanne Brown of Knoxville. She also leaves countless friends and other
family members to mourn her passing.

She will be remembered by everyone whose life she touched as a lady of style, class
and compassion.
