Funeral services for Edith M. , 85, of Monroe, who died Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004,
at the Taylor House in Des Moines, were held Thursday, March 4, at the United Methodist
Church in Monroe. Pastors Reg and Karen Merrill officiated at the services. Music
was provided by Jacque Robinson, organist and pastor Koughn, soloist.
Interment
was at the Oakwood Cemetery in Pella. Casket bearers were Tim Bosch, Erin Wright,
Erin Bosch, Steve Wilkins, Randy Bogaards, and John Wilson.
Edith was born in Marion
County near Knoxville on July 7, 1918. She was the daughter of W. Robert and Nina
Wells Hindman. She graduated from Knoxville High School. She was then employed at
the Rural Electric Cooperative in Pella until the time of her marriage.
She married
Herb Adolph Bosch in Olathe, Kan,. and to this union two sons were born. Ronald
Curt and Craig Alan.
Following their marriage, Edith and Herb moved to Des Moines
where Herb drove truck for United Buckingham. In 1948 they purchased Bosch Variety
in Monroe which they were operating when Herb died in March 1973. Following his
death, Edith continued to own and operate the store until she retired in 1980.
Following
her retirement, she continued to enjoy gardening and her plants and flowers. She
did a lot of cooking and baking with much of the fruits grown in her own orchard.
She liked to sit at the kitchen table and drink her coffee and watch birds on the
feeders. She also enjoyed her coffee time bunch very much. Above all else she loved
having her family come home.
Edith was a regular volunteer at Bidwell Riverside
in Des Moines and was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Monroe. She was preceded in Death by her husband; parents; a sister, Helen (H.J.) Chandler
and a brother, G. Robert Hindman.
She is survived by two sons and their wives, Ronald
and Amanda Bosch of Norwalk and Craig and Judy Bosch of Knoxville; four grandchildren;
three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Leila (C.R.) Wilkins of Ida Grove.
