MASON CITY — Dixie Warner Shaffer, 66, of 651 Sixth St. S.E., died Sunday (March 29, 1998) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Kathy Graves, chaplain of Hospice of North Iowa, officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Dixie Warner Shaffer Memorial Fund or Hospice of North Iowa.

Dixie Warner Shaffer was born Aug. 23, 1931, in Knoxville, Iowa, the daughter of Rollie and Elizabeth (Dainty) Warner. Dixie attended Knoxville High School, where she graduated in 1949. Dixie worked in Des Moines and came to Mason City in the late 1950s.

Dixie married Doyle Shaffer in Mason City. She was employed at Northwestern States Portland Cement Company for several years, retiring in 1990.

Dixie enjoyed golfing and playing bridge. She was active in BPW (Business & Professional Women) and was a member of the Highland Park Golf Course.

Survivors include one brother, Glenn Warner and special friend, Maggie Graham, Mason City; niece, Dori Ashburn and her husband, Scott, Mason City; nephew, Michael Warner, Mason City; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
