Dixie Ann Fisher of Des Moines, formerly of Knoxville was born January 4, 1955 in
Des Moines, Iowa. She was one of two daughters born to Violet June Rankin and Woodrow
“Woody” Lash Fisher.

Dixie grew up on a farm near Knoxville; graduating from Knoxville
High School in 1973. She attended University of Northern Iowa and earned her BS
degree in English from Simpson College.

Dixie worked for over 30 years for the Department
of Revenue, State of Iowa. Despite various health problems, Dixie was always cheerful,
had to good sense of humor, and sharp wit. She spent her free time watching TV,
visiting with friends, and attending pot luck dinners. Dixie’s greatest companion
in lie was her cat, “Squeaky.”

Dixie Ann Fisher passed away on Tuesday, May 12,
2009 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 54 years, 4 months and
8 days. Preceding her in death were her parents, June and Woody Fisher.

Those left
to mourn her passing are one sister and her husband, Mary and James Farmer of LeClaire,
Iowa; one niece, Megan Frercks of Davenport; and one uncle, Charles F. Fisher Jr.
of Pleasantville. Graveside services were held on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at Graceland
Cemetery in Knoxville with Rev. Art Hill officiating.
