Funeral services for Daniel Vance Ridnouer, 83, of Knoxville, who died on Friday,
September 7, 2001, at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital, were held on Monday,
September 10, at Bybee & Davis Funeral Home.
Rev. Peter J. Peterson officiated at
the services. Music was provided by Jim Kidder, organist and Katie Davis, vocalist.
Interment was at Graceland Cemetery. Military honors were provided by the V.F.W.
John Myers Post #3519 and American Legion Baty-Tucker Post #168. Casket bearers
were Jerry Zager, Bennie Willetts, Wally Armstrong, Dwight Johnston, Wendell Robinson,
and Mike Schloemer.
D. V. was born on March 2, 1918 in Marion County, Iowa, the
son of Samuel and Rosa (Brubaker) Ridnouer. He was raised in Knoxville and graduated
with the class of 1936. As a young man, he first worked for Clyde Brubaker at the
sawmill and later he and Noel Fraiser worked together as contractors.
In 1942 he
was inducted into the United States Army. He attained the rank of sergeant and saw
action in the Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns before he was honorably discharged
in 1946. After the war, he returned home and started his own business as a general
contractor. Through the years he worked closely with his cousin, J.C. Brubaker.

He married Barbara Mark on January 23, 1955 at the Methodist Church in Knoxville.
The couple have always made Knoxville their home. D. V. was a devoted Green Bay
packers fan and he rarely missed a game. He also enjoyed fishing in his spare time.
Above all, he loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He
was a member of the V.F.W. John Myers Post #3519 and the American Legion Baty-Tucker
Post #168.<br />

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lowell; and two sisters, one
in infancy and Helen Martin.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara of Knoxville; his daughter, Paula A. Eifler
of Coralville; two sons, Daniel V. Ridnouer, Jr. of Lacey and Dave M. Ridnouer of
Knoxville; five grandchildren; and many other family members and friends. Memorials
may be made to the National World War II Memorial or V.F.W. John Myers Post #3519.
