Funeral services for Daniel Lee "Danny" Marsh, 83, of Knoxville, who died Sunday,
Sept. 28, 2003 at Knoxville Area Community Hospital, were held Wednesday, Oct. 1,
at Bybee & Davis Funeral Home in Knoxville.
Elder Dick Young officiated at the services.
Music was provided by Katie Davis, vocalist and Jim Kidder, organist. Interment
was at Lincoln Cemetery in Marion County. Military honors were provided by the United
States Navy, V.F.W. John Myers Post No. 3519, and American Legion Baty-Tucker No.
168. Casketbearers were Rick Glover, Steve Glover, Lory Johnson, Dan Marsh IV, Denay
Marsh, Steve Scott, Sara Scott, Sam Webb, and Kelsey Webb.
Danny was born on November
3, 1919 in Knoxville, the son of Daniel and Carrie (Long) Marsh. He was raised in
the Knoxville area and attended Lincoln Country School and graduated from Knoxville
High School.
On September 8, 1939 he married Evelyn Ellis in Unionville, Mo. The
couple moved to Wichita, Kan. and Danny worked for Boeing Aircraft. In 1944 the
couple moved back to Knoxville and in June of that year he was inducted into the
United States Navy. He served on the USS Elk Hart and was honorably discharged in
January of 1946. He then returned to Knoxville and operated his own livestock trucking
business.
Following the death of his parents, Danny took over the family farm and
raised Hereford cattle in addition to running the trucking business. He retired
in 1986. He was a member of the V.F.W. John Myers Post No. 3519 and American Legion
Baty-Tucker Post No. 168.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister,
Florence Ward. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; a son and his wife, Danny and Darla Marsh of Knoxville; four daughters and their husbands, Teresa and Dwight Glover,
Lynda and Arden Graves, Deb and Craig Scott, and Pam and Dennis Webb, all of Knoxville;
nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many other family members and
friends.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or American Lung
Association.
