Lewis 'Dale' Crawford, 89, died Thursday, July 15 2004.

Born on June 2, 1915, in Knoxville, Iowa, he was the son of late James B. Crawford and Ruth (Schlotterbach) Crawford.

He was educated in the schools of Knoxville, Iowa, moved to Wisconsin, and then entered the Army in 1943 to serve his country during World War II. While in the service, he was an Airplane and Gas Engine Mechanic, also working with duplication and mimeo graphic machines.

In his early years, Dale loved to box and was a Golden Gloves Boxer after his time in the service. Dale spent over 60 years in the dry cleaning business, most recently owning and operating North Town Dry Cleaners in Racine.

He is survived by his grandchildren, Stephanie (Jeffrey) Ehlers, Efrain (Rebecca) Gonzalez Jr., Amelia Gonzalez, and Christina Gonzalez, all of Racine; son-in-law, Efrain Gonzalez Sr.; and many other loving family and friends in Knoxville, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters; his wife of 33 years, Elaine; and his daughter, Cheryl Gonzalez.

Private Family services will be held for Lewis 'Dale' Crawford. Committal services will be held at South Eastern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery on Thursday, July 22, 2004, at 1:30 p.m. at the cemetery chapel.
