Services for Clarence G. Mitchell, 66, Worthington, Mo., who died at the Mercy Medical
Center in Des Moines on June 19, 1993, were June 22, 1993, at the Comstock Funeral
Home in Unionville, Mo. Burial was at the Rose Cemetery near Graysville, Mo.
The
Rev. Ted Gillum, pastor of the Church of the Open Bible in Pella, officiated at
the service. Music was provided by Pam Brown and Shirley Comstock. Pallbearers were
Tyler Mitchell, David Mitchell, Tom Mitchell and Jim Clark.
Clarence was born on
June 6, 1927, the son of Charlie and Lillie Caven Mitchell, in Knoxville. He was
raised and attended school in Knoxville.
On Oct. 27, 1974, he was married to Doris
Louise Scott in Unionville, Mo. He moved to Putnam County, Mo. and worked 18 years
for Missouri Mining before returning to Knoxville, where he worked for Marion County
operating a road maintainer. He retired in 1974 and moved to Missouri, making his
home near Worthington.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris, on Oct. 18,
1990; one brother, Hale Mitchell; one sister, Mattie Lou Mitchell; and his parents.
Survivors include three brothers, Robert Mitchell of Otley, Lee Mitchell and Charles
Mitchell, both of Knoxville; four sisters, Dorothy Carter and Lorraine Becker, both
of Knoxville, Madonna Witter of Pella and Helen Couchman of Fort Worth, Texas.
The
Comstock Funeral Home in Unionville, Mo. was in charge of the arrangements.
