Funeral services for Alfred Van Steenwyk, 70, of Pella, who died Saturday, March
1, 2003 at Pella Regional Health Center, were held Tuesday, March 4, at Trinity
Reformed Church in Pella. Interment was at Graceland Cemetery in Pella.

Alfred was born on March 10, 1932, in rural Pella, to Henry James and Cornelia (Van
Kooten) Van Steenwyk. On Nov. 14, 1952, he married Ruth Harvey in Attica. He was
in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954 serving in Germany.

He lived his lifetime in the Pella, Knoxville and Pleasantville area. He worked
at Vermeer Mfg. for four years and was a self-employed carpenter for 20 years. He
had previously farmed for many years. He was a member of the Federated Fellowship
in Pella.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Sherrie Lynn Van Steenwyk;
a son, Alan Roger Van Steenwyk; and a sister, Charlene May.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Van Steenwyk of Pella; a son and his wife, Michael
and Ruth Ann Van Steenwyk of Pella; two daughters, Connie Vannoy of Monroe and Carrie
Jayne and her husband, Tom, of Altoona; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren;
and a brother and his wife, Henry and Kathleen Van Steenwyk of Pella.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Pella.
