A Memorial Viewing of Margaret (Brees) Hines, 84, of Bondurant and formerly of Knoxville, who died Friday, Feb. 28, 2003 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, was held Monday, March 3, at Evans-McCleery Funeral Home.

The body was cremated following the viewing and interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Marion County at a later date.

Honorary casketbearers were Jeffrey Cook, Scott Cook, Todd Cook, Dustin Short, and Chris Short.

Margaret was born on Sept. 13, 1918, in Knoxville, the daughter of Carl and Althea (Grove) Brees. She graduated from Knoxville High School.

On April 20, 1942, she married Frank Hines in Unionville, Mo. They lived their entire married lives in Marion County. While being a loving mother and homemaker, Margaret also worked as a waitress in several Knoxville area restaurants. Following the death of her husband in 1995, she moved to Bondurant to be closer to her daughter.

She was preceded in death by her patents; husband; and three brothers, John, Ed, and Roland.

She is survived by two daughters, Marsha Cook of Bondurant and Susan and her husband, Kenneth Short, of Arvada, Colo.; two sisters, Virginia Brees and Pauline Tschirgi, both of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Laurance and his wife, Wanda, of Gary, Ind.; five grandsons; six great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Knoxville Rescue Unit.
